Like the rest of Scandinavia, Christmas in Sweden is steeped in tradition – and not the prefabricated type of traditions that many outside of Europe experience. Christmas in Sundsvall is a wonderful affair including Lyslördag, a parade through town which culminates with the lighting of the Christmas tree and the Christmas lights around the stone city.
Another wonderful annual affair that helps the yuletide spirit is the Christmas market (Julmarknad) held up on Norra Berget, Sundsvall. With a vast array of foods, drink crafts, and activities it is a very special event that should not to be missed. Especially when there has been good snowfall to make it even more magical.
