The majestic Blue Mountains in NSW has it all for any traveller; spectacular valley views from atop sandstone escarpment, breath-taking waterfalls, and a vast array of fauna and fauna. Any visit to Sydney would not be complete without a visit to The Blue Mountains and Katoomba as the area offers spectacular scenery, plant life and wildlife to the visitor. While the better-known sites of Echo Point and the Three Sisters are a sight to behold and easily accessible to all, some exploring away from the thong of visitors reveals charms like Empress cascades, Wentworth Falls and the Under-cliff walking track It is a photographer's paradise for any time of the year and no view is ever the same. For many years, the Blue Mountains were considered to be an impenetrable barrier to the lands that lay immediately to the west and even the outback beyond; the notion is thought to have been perpetrated by Sydney authorities to deter the thoughts and ambitions of convicts try to escape and seek refuge beyond the mountain range. The Blue Mountains forms part of the Great Dividing Range of Australia which runs along the eastern seaboard of the continent and consisting mainly of a sandstone plateau, the area is dissected by gorges up to 760 metres deep. The highest point of the Blue Mountains 1,190 metres above sea level and in 2000, much of the region was World Heritage Listed. The Blue Mountains National Park offers great walking trails and many areas are still relatively untouched. For the photographer, there are a never-ending array of spectacular mountain vistas and wonderful water and cascade scenes.
